CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Chair Yoga
For those of you who think chair classes are “not for you”, these classes are a great entry point for students of all ages and body types to gain an understanding of the movements and language of yoga. And they can be quite vigorous. Chair yoga classes are appropriate for practitioners who are starting (or re-starting) their yoga practice, may have compromised mobility or injury, want to explore new ways to practice yoga, or simply want to discover Asana postures from a chair (great for bringing to the office). These classes are intended to increase joint mobility and muscular strength, as well as breath and movement synergy. They may include, but will not require, sitting or lying on the floor. Time for meditation will also be integrated.
Gentle Yoga
This is a great entry-level and multi-level class for students desiring a moderately paced class with modifications and prop support. Practiced primarily on the floor, we'll use bolsters, and even walls, as well as other props to help get the most out of foundational and restorative poses. Attention to alignment and safety will be stressed. Basic breathing techniques integrated with exercise will be taught as well. This class is wonderful for students who have compromised ability or injury of some sort.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga uses postures (Asanas) and stretches in combination with the breath to develop flexibility and relaxation. All styles of Hatha Yoga encourage proper alignment of the body and bring balance, strength and calmness to the practitioner, and in this class, you'll combine breath and movement in an all levels flow. Expect floor and standing postures.
Vinyasa Yoga I
Vinyasa, or “flow-yoga” as it is sometimes called, is a breath-synchronized series of poses that emphasize hip openers, arm strengthening, and body core work. The movements flow smoothly, helping to build internal heat and offer physical and mental benefits. It's an excellent workout designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and relieve stress. Expect floor and standing postures and lots of movement. It’s great for those who want create heat and strength.
Vinyasa Yoga II
Intermediate yoga classes are designed to build on the foundations you learned in basics classes. You will deepen your understanding of alignment, build strength, flexibility and balance. These classes are always exciting because in every class you learn and do something new. Hold space to embark on an inner journey as you move through the postures and find a deeper connection to yourself and your practice, letting go of those things that don’t serve or enhance your life. It’s suggested you take at least a few beginner classes prior to participating in this class, so you have established a strong foundation.
Vinyasa Yoga III
A little more challenging than an intermediate class, a strong flow practice will get you moving! This class is designed to build heat, energize and strengthen the body. Poses are instructed with precise alignment and modifications are offered to help students practice within their ability level. Expect core work, twists, balancing postures, back bends, inversions and breath work to round out this deeply invigorating practice. Expect a strong flow class that is intelligently sequenced and offers precise instructions to give you the best possible experience both physically and mentally. Foundational yoga experience recommended.
Dynamic Deep Stretch Yoga
This class is designed to release tension and align and create space in the whole body. Imagine a slow yet deep yoga practice targeting chronically tight areas such as the back, shoulders, hips, hamstrings and quads. Deep stretch yoga is an accessible class and appropriate for all – athletes, advanced practitioners, weekend warriors, first time yoga students, and everyone in between. Tight muscles can cause imbalance and pull the body out of alignment, which can lead to injuries or chronic pain. It’s recommended for first time yogis, those who spend hours sitting at work, and those heavily involved in weight training, endurance sports, and repetitive motion sports.
